Overview

Mascopolys is an online pet care business directory to help a pet owner to find a suitable available service. For  every relevant pet business there is information about offered services, location, pet types, opening hours, contact numbers, and more detailed information for anyone that owns a pet.

This is an entrepreneurship that I started with my husband and two friends in 2018 and we are still working in new products to offer.

UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM

Pet Owners need recommendations to find specialized pet services in their neighborhood

We notice that in the recent years the pet ownership has increased considerably in my country. For many pet owners, their pets are considered as family members, and need products and assistance to improve their life quality.

Despite the fact that, there is a growing market of services and products for pets that offers new specialized alternatives, pet owners not always have the basic information about these and usually need to ask for recommendations through several channels.

GOAL

Create a responsive web app that pet owners can access to find and filter any pet service they need

Our goal was to create a business directory web where a pet owner could find pet services by neighborhood, pet type, service type, and other key needs. We also wanted to achieve that any pet business could  get more reach and visibility through this web.

My responsibilities  include branding, mockups and prototyping. Miriam led the commercial strategy while Ytalo and Jorge are the software developers. We all contributed to the product strategy and direction of the business.

BRANDING

The name, colors and the logo went through many iterations. We wanted to create a web with vibrant colors that feels fun but balanced.

DESIGNS

There is a lot of functionalities to explore for this product, but we wanted to start with an MVP. I design a responsive web with a simple filter and relevant information to find a service in a neighborhood, showing contact information for every business.

Searching a pet service

When a pet owner land in the home  page, they must choose a service, for example veterinary services.

They can filter the type of pet, the neighborhood or the veterinary specialty. Every type of service has different filters that depends on the relevant information for the service.

Finally, they can see the detail of the selected service and the contact information.

OUTCOME

Focus the energy and efforts on the main features

Create a product from scratch with limited resources and time, requires to focus the efforts on an MVP. From the beginning I had a lot of ideas to improve the UI and I was worried for that, but I understood that we needed to focus on the main features with a simple flow to launch the product in a short time.

We launched the first version (MVP) in 2019, and this version with an improvement in the architecture information and the branding in 2020. Now I am working on the design of a new feature to support a merchandising items shop and a business management portal.
